More than 100 signed up for Thursday's blockathon pre-event
The first virtual pre-event for Blockathon Stockholm takes place on Thursday 20 August, 11:00–12:30 CET. More than 100 people have signed up so far. Registration is below.

What it covers
Fati Hakim, founder of FirstBlock and the initiator of FirstBlock-athon, takes the theme the event was built around: blockchain beyond finance.
Of the eight areas participants can work in during the hackathon, only two are finance. The pre-event is where that gets explained rather than asserted — what the other six actually cover, and what teams are expected to build in them.
Who it is for
Anyone considering applying, and anyone who wants to understand the event without applying. It is free, online, and hosted by Kaupr.
For those weighing an application, this is the session to attend before deciding. The problem statements are being released one at a time, and the ones published so far range from proving a document has not been altered to letting donors follow where their money goes.
FirstBlock-athon itself runs 7–11 September in Stockholm as part of Nordic Tech Week 2026. Applications are open.
